Our Future Priest?
Today is the birthday of my cute little brother John. This is him, to the left, and he turns eight today. His current aspiration (hopefully it will last...) is to become a priest, and the picture is of one of the times he was 'playing Mass.' As you can see, he was wearing a rather tattered (due to many Halloween usages) home-made priestly vestment and had set up our living room table like an altar, complete with the Daily Roman Missal, candlesticks, a paten and chalice, and other communion vessels. To my knowledge, he was using some grape juice from our fridge for the "Blood of Christ", and some Ritz crackers for the "Body of Christ." One of my other little brothers (not in the picture) was his altar boy.
Something he did more recently was to make a whole screen out of construction paper and drape it around his bunkbed to be a Confessional. He then made a little sign and wrote "Father John" on it, taped it to the screen, and came and told us we all had to go upstairs and go to Confession. We all thought that was simply adorable. Who knows? Maybe one day we will be going to Confession to him...

That's hysterical! :)
If you hear a very young voice behind the confessional screen at church, you may want to check the pews....
